Cleaning work of drains found unsatisfactory in Yamunanagar

During an inspection, Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Anil Nain found cleaning work of drains in Wards 19 and 20 of the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) unsatisfactory.

Nain asked the contractor concerned to clean the drains properly. He also warned the contractor that the payment would be stopped if the work was not found satisfactory.

The CSI said on the instructions of Mayor Suman Bahamani and MCYJ Commissioner of Akhil Pilani, he went to inspect the drains in Wards19 and 20 of the MCYJ. He said during the inspection in Vishnu Nagar, Ward 19 municipal councillor Harjeet Anand told him that the cleaning work of a drain was done here, two days ago.

He said the work of cleaning the said drain was not found satisfactory as the drain was filled with silt.

He added that the unsatisfactory cleaning work was shown to the contractor concerned and he was given strict instructions that the drain should be cleaned till its depth.

“I asked the contractor to clean the silt of the drain properly, so that the drain did not overflow during the rainy season,” said Nain.

He said negligence in cleaning would not be tolerated.“I asked the contractor to get the drains cleaned with full staff. I also asked him to increase the staff and resources for cleaning all big drains before the arrival of monsoon, so that the cleaning work will be completed on time,” said Nain.

He appealed to the general public not to throw solid waste and polythene in the drains as these items caused blockages.

He added that Mayor Suman Bahamani had given instructions to run a campaign to completely clean each colony of the wards a few days ago.

“For running the campaign, I instructed Sanitation Inspectors, Assistant Sanitation Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors of all wards to clean the colonies from 2 pm to 5 pm every day,” said Nain.
