Brief: Man booked for running illegal IELTS centre
Phagwara: The Nakodar Sadar police booked a villager for allegedly running illegal IELTS centres at his house.The accused has been identified as Narindar Kumar, a resident of Chuharr village. Saurav Gautam, a resident of the same village, complained to the Nakodar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) about an illegal IELTS centre, Jevik IELTS centre, at Chuharr village. The SDM has forwarded this complaint to the SSP, who sought the district attorney’s opinion and ordered registration of a case. A case under sections of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act has been registered against the accused. oc
Drug peddler arrested
Phagwara: The Bilga police have arrested a drug peddler on the charge of selling heroin. SHO Palwindar Singh said 8 gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused Manpreet Kumar, alias Mani, of Mohalla Joshian, Talwan village. A case under Sections 21-B/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. oc

Phagwara: The Mehatpur police have booked some persons for stealing cash and jewellery from a house. Pritpal Singh of Awann Khalsa village complained to the police that thieves barged into his house on May 20 night and stole Rs 2.5 lakh and gold jewellary. A case under the BNS has been registered against unidentified accused. oc
Villager booked for liquor sale
Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police booked a villager on the charges of brewing and selling illicit liquor. As many as 35 bottles of hooch and 400 kg of lahan were seized from the possession of the accused Jasveer Singh, a resident of Mundi Chohlian village. A case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Punjab Excise Act has been registered against the accused. oc

Hoshiarpur: The police have booked a man, his mother and father on a complaint of a woman on the charge of forcing a woman to commit suicide. Jaswinder Kaur of village Haled of Dasuya told the police that her daughter Mandeep Kaur was maried to Charanjit Singh, son of Joginderpal, a resident of Sheikhupura. Her daughter’s in-laws said Mandeep had consumed poison, after which she was admitted to a hospital where she died. According to her, her daughter was forced by her in-laws to take the step. oc

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested two accused and recovered drugs and drug money from them. The police arrested Rachpal Singh of Ravidas Nagar and recovered 256 gram of narcotic powder from him. While the police arrested Bachitar Singh and recovered 270 gram of narcotic powder and drug money worth Rs 4,300 from him.oc
