Mitchell Marsh Emulates Brother In Record-Breaking Feat After 17 Years

A thrilling clash took place on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, as Gujarat Titans hosted the Lucknow Super Giants.

The spotlight, however, firmly belonged to Lucknow's opener Mitchell Marsh, who delivered a blistering century and created a piece of unique IPL history.

Marsh unleashes mayhem in Ahmedabad

Batting first, Lucknow got off to a flying start, thanks to a breathtaking innings from Mitchell Marsh. The Australian all-rounder tore into the Gujarat Titans' bowling attack, scoring his maiden IPL century in sensational style.

Marsh hammered 117 runs off just 64 deliveries, striking 10 fours and 8 sixes at a strike rate of 182.81. His innings lasted approximately 107 minutes and set the tone for a massive team total.

A unique family legacy in IPL

With this century, Marsh followed in the footsteps of his elder brother, Shaun Marsh, who had scored 115 off 69 balls for Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. The Marsh brothers have now become the first pair of siblings in IPL history to each score a century, a feat never before achieved in the tournament's 17-year history.
