WATCH: LSG bowler ‘copies’ suspended Digvesh Rathi’s notebook celebration after taking wicket in GT vs LSG match, his name is…
New Delhi: Digvesh Rathi did not play for Lucknow Super Giants in their IPL 2025 encounter against Gujarat Titans on Thursday, but his trademark celebration was on display at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Left-arm pacer Aakash Singh replicated his teammate’s iconic move after taking the crucial wicket of Jos Buttler during LSG’s defence of a mammoth total of 235.
Rathi has been handed a one-match ban for breaching the IPL 2025 Code of Conduct. The leg-spinner, who impressed in his debut IPL season, had a heated exchange with Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma during LSG’s previous match in Lucknow on Monday. Rathi’s provocative celebration is what led to the incident, following which the on-field umpires had to intervene.
Although Aakash did not match Rathi’s enthusiasm, he still greeted the crowd with a gesture before performing the now-familiar notebook celebration. Unlike his partner, Akash behaved respectfully, not engaging the dismissed batsman – while Rathi watched it all from the dugout.
Earlier in the day, Mitchell Marsh’s century and Nicholas Pooran’s 56 helped LSG post 235. However, their best batting effort came a little late as LSG crashed out of the playoff race earlier in the week.
