2 persons from Ambala held with heroin in Manali

In a major crackdown against narcotics, the Kullu police arrested two persons from Ambala, Haryana, and recovered 58 grams of Chitta (heroin) from their possession at 16 Mile on the Kullu-Manali National Highway in the Manali subdivision today.

Kullu SP Kathikeyan Gokulachandran stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) intercepted a Honda Amaze vehicle as part of a routine inspection. During search, the officers discovered a substantial quantity of heroin concealed in the car, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.

The accused have been identified as Gurdeep Kumar (28) of Laha village and Happy (35) of Lakhnoura village, both residents of Naraingarh tehsil in Haryana. They have been booked under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The authorities have launched an extensive investigation to trace the network associated with the acquisition and distribution of these illicit substances.

The arrests come just days after another shocking case in which the police apprehended a 14-year-old boy from Punjab at the green tax barrier in Prini, Manali subdivision. The minor was found in possession of 24.70 gram heroin.

The surge in synthetic drug trafficking has raised grave concerns among law enforcement agencies and society at large. Kullu valley, long infamous for its production of charas, is now witnessing a worrisome trend with synthetic drugs infiltrating local communities.
