Mumbaikars woke up to a dense layer of smog, particularly affecting areas like Juhu Chowpatty and Marine Lines, following the downpour that marked the onset of pre-monsoon activity in the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more wet weather ahead. According to their latest report, Mumbai is expected to see a generally cloudy sky with heavy rain today. The change in weather brought both relief and caution. While the cool breeze and light showers made Marine Drive a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, authorities have urged residents to stay safe as more intense weather conditions are predicted in the coming days.

Red & Orange Alerts Issued For Areas In Maharashtra
The IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad district for May 23 and Ratnagiri for May 22 and 23, warning of extremely heavy rainfall. Additionally, an orange alert remains in effect for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Sindhudurg, and the ghat areas of Pune and Satara. These areas may experience heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
As the city transitions into the monsoon season, residents are advised to prepare for potentially severe weather. The rains, while bringing relief from summer heat, also raise concerns about flooding and traffic disruptions in the days to come.
