Janhvi Kapoor says she ‘jumped on someone’ when she found out ‘Homebound’ was headed to Cannes Film Festival

Janhvi Kapoor was far from cool, calm, and collected when she learned that her film Homebound had been selected for screening at the Cannes Film Festival. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress recounted the night director Neeraj Ghaywan broke the news to her.

Kapoor, during the shooting of the film, was aware that the production had plans to submit the film to Cannes but she “didn’t even want to think about that” as she was grateful to have been part of the story and told the same to Ghaywan. She recalled she was at a get-together with friends when she found out the film was selected for the prestigious film festival. “I got a phone call and he’s (Ghaywan) is like, ‘I just got the email, we just got accepted!’ We got into this category that I can't pronounce for the life of me!... Anyway, I jumped on someone as soon as I found out and screamed and heaved!”

The actress admitted she was in disbelief and the whole Cannes experience was a ‘pinch me’ moment. Homebound was selected by the committee to be featured in the Un Certain Regard category. Backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Martin Scorsese coming aboard as an executive producer, the film features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
