Run against the habit: HPU students pace for a drug-free Himachal

A marathon themed ‘Run for a Drug-Free Himachal’ was organised by the Dean Students Welfare Office in collaboration with the Department of Public Administration and the Department of Physical Education at Himachal Pradesh University.

The marathon was flagged off by Dean Students Welfare Professor Mamta Mokta. A total of 150 students from various departments of the university participated in the marathon. The event aimed to promote awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to encourage students to stay away from drugs.

In the girls’ category, Bina Chauhan from the Zoology Department secured first position, followed by Jyotika, Babita, and Yamini from the Physical Education department. In the boys’ category, Nitesh Singhta from the Commerce department secured first position, followed by Harish, Mohit, and Kishori from the Physical Education department.

All the winners were awarded cash prizes. After the marathon, students carried out a procession in the university campus, shouting slogans against drug use and appealing for a drug-free Himachal.
