Pakistan stands exposed after Operation Sindoor, says Shah
Operation Sindoor undertaken by the Indian armed forces in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack has “completely exposed” the fact that terrorism in India was sponsored by Pakistan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday.
He said the operation showed the “firm” political will of PM Modi. He said despite Pakistan carrying out multiple terror attacks against India for decades, they were never adequately responded to. It was only after Modi became the PM in 2014 that India responded to the first major attack at an Army camp in Uri in 2016, by launching a surgical strike at terrorists’ camps in PoK.
Shah, who delivered the KF Rustamji Memorial lecture on the occasion of BSF’s Investiture Ceremony, said the surgical strike was conducted for the first time, penetrating into the terrorist hideouts and giving a befitting response.
“We believed that the response will put an end to the terror activities, but it didn’t, and another terrorist attack took place in Pulwama in 2019. This time, the Indian forces responded decisively with an airstrike, once again destroying terrorist bases. The situation deteriorated further in Pahalgam, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed innocent tourists in front of their families after asking about their religion. This time, the PM declared that this terrorist attack would receive a fitting response, and Operation Sindoor was launched,” he added.
Shah said after the attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor was launched and within minutes, nine terrorist bases were destroyed, two of which were headquarters of terrorist organisations. He emphasised that the Indian forces initially neither attacked Pakistan’s military establishments nor their airbases. It was felt that this would be a sufficient response to Pakistan, however the country proved that it sponsors terrorism by considering the attack on the terrorists as an attack on itself and dared to target India’s civilians and military institutions.
Reviews criminal laws’ enactment in Andhra
Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday directed Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu to review the status of implementation of new criminal laws in a pin-pointed format in the state. During a review meeting on their implementation, Shah said the CM should review them once a month, the Chief Secretary should do so once in a fortnight and the Home Secretary of the state as well as the DGP, once a week.
