Janhit: Pakistan Denies Airspace Use to Indigo Flight, Forces Emergency Landing in Srinagar | ABP NEWS
On Wednesday evening, an Indigo flight carrying 227 passengers took off from Delhi for Srinagar. Shortly after crossing Amritsar, the flight encountered severe turbulence over Punjab. In an effort to avoid worsening weather, the pilot sought permission to use Pakistani airspace. However, Pakistan denied the request, showing no humanitarian consideration. The plane continued on its designated path but faced extreme turbulence as it neared Pathankot. The pilot skillfully navigated through the difficult conditions and made an emergency landing at Srinagar Airport. Fortunately, all passengers were safe, though the front portion of the aircraft suffered significant damage. Terrified passengers recorded videos of the chaos inside the cabin, showing people crying, praying, and holding their children close. The visuals clearly depict the fear and intensity of the moment. DGCA is investigating the incident and appreciated the composed response of the crew. India has now closed its airspace to Pakistani aircraft until June 23, matching Pakistan’s previous denial. The episode once again highlights the stark difference in humanitarian values between India and Pakistan. While Pakistan once launched drone attacks under the cover of civilian planes, India prioritized human lives and restraint.
