Bhopal Criminal Killed Over Love Affair, Body Found In Dam

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 23-year-old man was murdered and his body was thrown in a dam about 30 kilometres from Bhopal. The youth with past criminal record went missing on May 19 night.

His kin staged protest outside Kamla Nagar police station after recovery of his body on Friday morning alleging inaction by police despite providing them clues regarding the accused.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim identified as Arjun aka Lalu Yadav was killed over a love affair with a girl. The girl’s brother is the prime suspect in the case who along with his aides dumped the body in the dam to hide evidence, police said.

According to reports, Shabari Nagar resident Arjun aka Lalu Yadav disappeared at night on May 19. Arjun’s family members claimed that they lodged a missing complaint at Kamla Nagar police station but cops failed to take effective steps.

Arjun’s sister Mamta claimed that Arjun was called by Shubham Nageshwar at his Hukka Lounge at night on May 19. A CCTV footage that went viral on social media shows Arjun entering the lounge at 12.19 am. However, he was not seen walking out. A few hours later, Shubham and his four aides were seen coming out of the lounge with a big carton. Mamta alleged that Shubham and his aides killed her brother, stuffed his body in the carton. They took the body to Bilkisganj in their car and threw it in the dam, she said, adding that they provided the footage to police but no action was taken.

The family alleged that Shubham used to object to his sister Raksha’s relationship with Arjun and had planned his murder. Shubham wore Arjun’s shirt and shoes while he came out of his lounge in a bid to pose as Arjun to mislead cops.

According to ACP Chandrashekhar Pandey, unidentified body found in the dam at Bilkisganj in Sehore has been identified as that of Arjun Yadav whose missing complaint was lodged at Kamla Nagar police station on May 21. Some suspects have been detained and were questioned in this connection, he added.

Visited lounge on his own

Police officials said initial questioning from suspects revealed that Arjun went to Shubham’s Hukka Lounge on his own where he had a scuffle with him over his relationship with his sister. In a fit of rage, Shubham hit Arjun with a frying pan on his head, which led to his death. Shubham then called his four friends and took the body to Bilkisganj in a carton and threw it in the dam. Shubham, 25, has no past criminal record. Efforts are underway to identify his aides, officials added.

23 criminal cases

Police officials said Arjun aka Lalu Yadav had 23 criminal cases registered against him including attempt to murder, rioting and under Arms Act. In 2022, Arjun shot at Vivek Yadav after he spotted him with his girlfriend. Vivek received a bullet injury in his arm. Shubham’s sister Raksha ran a girls’ hostel with his relatives.
