UPSC Prelims 2025: Exam Day Guidelines, What To Carry, When To Arrive And Other Key Details

UPSC Prelims 2025 Exam: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is scheduled to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 tomorrow, May 25, 2025. The exam will be held in two shifts including the first shift will start at 9:30 am and the second shift will begin at 2:30 pm. Here, candidates can check the UPSC Prelims 2025 exam day guidelines.

UPSC Prelims 2025: Key Exam Day Guidelines

All those who are appearing for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 are required to follow the below instructions to ensure a seamless experience on the exam day.

- Entry Time and Venue Rules

Gate Closing Timings:

Forenoon Session: Gates are closed at 9 AM

Afternoon Session: Gate closing time at 2 PM

Note: No entry in the examination centre will be allowed after gate closing time.

Candidates should report only at the centre indicated on their e-Admit Card. Change of centre is not allowed.

- Optional Documents

Candidates are required to bring the following documents without fail:

A printed version of the e-Admit Card (digital versions will not be considered)

A photo ID proof (as specified on the admit card) like:

Aadhaar Card

Passport

Voter ID

Driving Licence

- Arrival Instructions

Report to the examination center at least 60 minutes prior to the reporting time so that security and verification formalities can be done on time.

- Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited within the examination center:

Electronic devices: Smartphones, smartwatches, Bluetooth-enabled devices, etc.

Study material: Books, notes, or any printed material

Other prohibited items as mentioned in the admit card guidelines

- Dress Code

Dress appropriately and modestly for a formal public place.

Obey all instructions issued by the invigilators and maintain examination decorum.

- Admit Card Collection

If you’ve misplaced or forgotten your Registration ID (RID), use the ‘Forgot RID’ option available on the UPSC website.

Retrieve your admit card using your email ID and date of birth.

- Technical Advice

Though admit cards may be downloaded on smartphones, it is strongly recommended to use a desktop or laptop for better compatibility and print quality.
