Nuapada: Junior Engineer Arrested for Possessing Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Susanta Kumar Sethy, a Junior Engineer in the Roads and Buildings Department, Khariar, Nuapada, on Saturday in a disproportionate assets case.

Sethy faces charges under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 05/2025 and will be presented before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

Searches uncovered assets including three multi-storeyed buildings, a farmhouse, nine high-value plots, two luxury vehicles (one benami), Rs 55 lakh in bank deposits, and household items worth over Rs 14 lakh, far exceeding Sethy’s known income. Authorities allege he hid Rs 55 lakh in cash and 1.4 kg of gold at a tenant’s house to evade detection. An FIR by Sethy’s spouse against the tenant is under investigation at Dhouli Police Station. The probe continues.
