Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, two of the wealthiest individuals in India, are the only two billionaires whose total net worth has increased by more than $1 billion on May 23, 2025. According to the updated Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ambani and Adani are the only two among 500 billionaires across the world, who have added over $1 billion to their overall wealth today.

As per the list, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani surged by more than $2 billion and $1 billion, respectively on Saturday (May 23), making them the only ones among a list of 500 billionaires worldwide who saw their wealth increase by over $1 billion.

Notably, five Indian billionaires are featured among the top 10 who gained the most wealth on Saturday, including HCL founder Shiv Nadar, Shahpur Mistry and Ravi Jaipuria. Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani are ranked first and second on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, followed by billionaires from Indonesia, Japan and Mexico.

Mukesh Ambani net worth

As per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the net worth of Mukesh Ambani, witnessed an increase of $2.35 billion on May 23, surging to $104 billion. The Reliance Industries Chairman, has added $13 billion to his overall wealth in this year, making him the richest man in Asia, and the 17th wealthiest globally, according to the index.

Gautam Adani net worth

Meanwhile, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has added a total of $3.64 billion to his fortune in this year, including $1.72 billion on May 23. Gautam Adani is the second richest man in India after Mukesh Ambani, and the 20th wealthiest in the world, with a net worth of $82.3 billion, as of May 23, 2025, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Top billionaires lose net worth

While Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani added to their respective fortunes, the world’s leading billionaires witnesssed a significant drop in their net worth on Saturday. As per Bloomberg, Elon Musk– the world’s richest man saw a decline of $1.14 billion, with his net worth declining to $374 billion.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost $1.95 billion, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth declined by $3.29 billion, while Larry Ellison’s fortune slumped $1.35 billion. Other top names like Steve Ballmer, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin each lost over $1 billion, as per Bloomberg.
