Man arrested for minor’s rape
The police arrested a man for raping a minor within six hours of receiving a complaint against him.
The suspect, who is a married man and an employee of a private firm, was trying to flee to his native place in Uttar Pradesh when cops apprehended him. He was presented in court today, which remanded him in judicial custody.
In a complaint submitted to the Women police station, a woman hailing from Rajasthan and currently living in Panchkula along with her family stated that her 14-year-old daughter, a Class 8 student, was abducted on the morning of May 22 while she was on her way to school. She was standing near a shop when a man lured her into his car and took her to a secluded place, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. Upon returning home, the child informed her parents, who immediately contacted the police.
A case was registered under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Sub-Inspector Neha Sandhu said the suspect went into hiding immediately after the incident but was caught within six hours of receiving the complaint.
