College student held for sexually abusing 3-year-old girl
A three-year-old girl, who was reportedly sexually abused at a village in Sonepat district, had to wait for five hours for treatment at Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women, Khanpur.
Dr JC Dureja, Director of the college, has ordered an inquiry into the matter. As per information, the victim’s parents reached the medical college at around 6 pm, but doctors did not attend to the girl. The parents then approached minister Arvind Sharma’s office in Gohana. After making all efforts, the victim was finally admitted to the hospital at around 11 pm.
Dr Dheeraj, Medical Superintendent, said Dr Dureja had set up an inquiry committee to be led by the joint director.
The Mohana police, meanwhile, have registered a case under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused, identified as a 20-year-old college student and a member of the victim’s extended family, has been arrested within 12 hours of the reporting of the crime.
The father of the victim said his daughter was playing in the house, but went outside after finding the door open. When she returned home, they spotted blood on her legs. She was taken to a Community Health Centre, from where she was referred to the medical college.
Bharti Dabas, Gohana DCP, said on receiving information, the police reached the hospital and registered a case. The FSL team also inspected the spot where the crime was committed and collected blood samples from the spot.
Security has been provided to the victim and her family.
