78K cases disposed off, Rs 45.5 cr given as compensation
The District Legal Services Authority on Saturday organised a Lok Adalat in the judicial court complexes of Jalandhar, Phillaur and Nakodar wherein as many as 78,713 cases were disposed off on the basis of compromise.
A total of 25 benches had been constituted under the guidance of Nirbhow Singh Gill, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar, where in all types of civil cases, matrimonial cases, MACT cases, compoundable cases, traffic challans and pre-litigative cases of the PSPCL, bank cases, BSNL and revenue cases were taken up in the said Lok Adalat.
DLSA chairperson and Rahul Kumar, CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA, Jalandhar, inspected the benches constituted at Jalandhar. They further informed that by way of Lok Adalat people are able to get speedy justice. “Decision of Lok Adalat is final and no appeal can be filed against the decision of Lok Adalat. Decision is given on the basis of compromise between both parties. Lok Adalats increase brotherhood. Moreover, the court fees paid by the applicant is also refunded", they said.
Secretary DLSA informed that from time to time, the Lok Adalats are being organised so that the matters can be disposed off by way of compromise.
