Residents up in arms as Bhiwani faces severe potable water crisis
There has been a severe drinking water crisis in Bhiwani town leaving residents across multiple areas in distress even after the supply of raw water to the waterworks via canal system has begun two days ago.
The residents alleged that for the past 15 days, several localities had gone without potable water, causing widespread frustration.
The residents of one of the worst-hit areas- Phoolon Wali Gali near Bartan Bazaar reached the residence of the Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department Surya Kant led by Ward Councillor Pawan Masta to raise their grievances today. The residents comprising Omprakash besides Masta and others demanded immediate resolution. Following the discussion, the XEN assured the residents that the water supply line would be repaired during the day and normal supply would be resumed.
Even after the canal water was made available, regular supply across the town has not resumed. The residents from various colonies and localities have been constantly calling officials to complain, often without response, alleged Masta. Many have been forced to visit the department offices, yet no substantial action has been taken, he alleged.
Omprakash alleged that the PHED did not arrange for water tankers in the affected areas, leaving people to fend for themselves. The situation in the town has led to chaos and anxiety among the public, raising concerns over governance and basic service delivery, he said. The residents’ delegation included Naresh Verma, Naresh Soni, Manoj Gupta, Sandeep Jangra, Sahil Verma, Sanjay Sharma, and Rahul Verma.
