Radio Naggar drives home cyber safety, anti-drug message

In a powerful display of community outreach, Radio Naggar leveraged the six-day Shadhi Jach Mela to raise public awareness about cybercrime and drug abuse, drawing praise from locals and tourists alike.

With the support of the mela committee, the community radio station conducted a series of impactful street plays aimed at educating villagers from over 19 surrounding panchayats. Using simple, relatable language, the performances shed light on how digital illiteracy is leaving individuals vulnerable to online scams such as phishing calls, fake lottery schemes and OTP fraud.

The plays stressed the importance of protecting personal data and encouraged people to report cybercrimes promptly by calling helpline 1930 or contacting the nearest police station.

Alongside digital safety, Radio Naggar addressed the escalating issue of drug abuse among youth in Himachal Pradesh. A compelling drama portrayed the devastating impact of substance addiction, emphasising the need for a united effort by families, educators and communities to combat the problem. The narrative promoted the message of a “Drug-Free Kullu,” underscoring the social and emotional costs of addiction.

The initiative earned widespread appreciation for its authenticity and clarity, engaging both local attendees and international visitors at the fair.

Radio Naggar’s campaign stands as a testament to how creative community engagement can effectively tackle pressing social challenges.
