Mysterious death of young woman sparks protest

RAJOURI, May 24: The mysterious death of a young woman sparked protest by the deceased’s relatives near Haya bridge in Budhal area of Rajouri today.
Reports said that dead body of a young woman was found under mysterious circumstances near Haya bridge in Budhal area. The body was noticed by a passerby, who immediately informed the Budhal police.
Acting swiftly, a team from the Budhal Police Station rushed to the spot and took the body into possession for medico-legal formalities.
The deceased has been identified as Sonia Akhtar, daughter of Abdul Gafoor, a resident of Kewal Upper. The sudden and mysterious nature of her death has triggered tension in the area.
Soon after the incident, local residents gathered at the site and staged a protest on the road demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. The protest was led jointly by District general secretary BJP Rajouri, Manzoor Ahmed Naik, and senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi.
The protestors alleged that Sonia Akhtar may have been murdered and demanded that the police should hold fair investigation and ensure justice.
In response to the growing concern and public outrage, SP Operations Budhal, Wajahat Hussain, reached the spot and held discussions with the protestors. They assured the agitating locals that the matter would be investigated thoroughly and transparently. They confirmed that an FIR has already been registered at Police Station Budhal, and all necessary legal procedures are being followed.
