Happy over people’s support to ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’: Bhullar
Addressing a march against drug abuse organized at Sabhra village here on Saturday, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar expressed satisfaction over people’s support to the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ campaign launched, under the mission ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, by the AAP-led state government to eradicate the drug menace from the state of Punjab.
He said the state government is happy over the response being given by people to the movement launched against drugs. He said this ‘war’ cannot be won without the cooperation of the public. He said all of us would have to make it a movement of the masses to make it a success.
Sharing the ill-effects of drug abuse, the minister said drug addiction causes loss of wealth and health and affects a drug addict’s social status as he hesitates to face or socialise in society. He said the government is making all-out efforts for the treatment of the addicts. It has been providing facilities to rehabilitate the addicts too.
Bhullar called upon the village elders and the members of the village protection committees to get addicts admitted to the government-run de-addiction centres. He appealed to the people to give information regarding the drug traders to the police and their identification must be kept secret. The minister administered oath against drugs to the villages.
The minister led marches in Booh Havelian and Kirtowal Khurd villages falling under the Patti constituency. The village elders, sarpanches, panches, and members of the village protection committees. Literature to aware people against drugs was also distributed among people in the marches.
