'Coffee Small Can Stop My Breathing': Flight Passenger's List Of Allergies Goes Viral, Draws Mixed Reactions

A handwritten note listing an airline passenger's list of allergies has gone viral on social media.

Posted on X by user Sergio Rodriguez (@LyftGyft), the image shows a note titled "Flight Allergy List," reportedly held by a flyer seated in 4A. The letter mentions a list of foods and conditions the passenger is allergic to—including coffee, cashews, fragrances, and even airplane fuel.

What has drawn the most attention is the line that states, "I am highly allergic to the smell of coffee and would appreciate it if you could refrain from brewing coffee. As even the smell can stop my breathing".

While passengers would like to enjoy their air travel with a sip of coffee, this man simply asked the cabin crew to not prepare coffee onboard as that could put his health into danger.

No perfume, please

The letter further requested fellow passengers to refrain from wearing scented products such as cologne, perfume, or scented lotions.

Request for water

That wasn't all. The man shared that he was on medications and needed enough water.

"I also have several medications that I need to take and as a result drinks a lot of water. If you could spare a large bottle from the onset of the flight that would be greatly appreciated, this way I don't have to constantly ask you for more water", the note read.

"Thank you for understanding..."

It concluded with a gentle gratitude, “Thank you for your patience and understanding in trying to make the flight as enjoyable as possible for me. I appreciate you.”

Netizens react

“Imagine sitting next to a passenger like this?” Rodriguez captioned the image while posting it on X, echoing what many online seemed to be thinking.

The post quickly went viral, generating a wave of reactions.

A user wrote, “I would kindly let them know they can either die from the coffee smell or from my lack of coffee and then let them make the decision."

One related to the health condition and wrote, " Oh, and I have at least 4 Epipens when I fly. My problem. Not yours."
