Invincible India, Strong Hindu Society Vital For Global Dignity: Mohan Bhagwat
NAGPUR, May 25: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday underlined the imperative of self-reliance for national security, stressing that India must be capable of defending itself independently against any threat, even if multiple powers unite against the country.
In an expansive interview with ‘Organiser’ marking the centenary of the RSS, Bhagwat said, “For national security, we must not be dependent on others. We should be able to defend ourselves. No one should be able to conquer us – not even if multiple powers come together.” He described this invincibility as a vital goal rooted in the Sangh’s vision for the nation.
Bhagwat made these remarks in response to a question on the Sangh’s vision for national security, military strength, and economic power. The interview took place ahead of Operation Sindoor.
The RSS chief emphasised that true strength comes from within and that it must be balanced with virtues to avoid misdirected violence. “A virtuous person is not safe just because of his virtues; hence virtues should be combined with strength. Mere brute power can be directionless, leading to blatant violence; hence power should be combined with righteousness,” he said.
Bhagwat clarified that the Sangh’s vision of power was not aimed at global dominance but at ensuring peace and dignity for all. “We are not doing this to dominate world trade, but to ensure that everyone can lead a peaceful, healthy, and empowered life,” he said.
Highlighting ongoing challenges, Bhagwat pointed to the persistent aggression on India’s borders, insisting that building strength is not a choice but a necessity in the current global scenario.
Addressing concerns about the rising atrocities against Hindus in neighbouring countries, Bhagwat questioned the silence of global human rights bodies.
“Hindus have been facing exploitation in neighbouring countries, violence has been incurred on them. Do human rights defenders at the global level care about the same ” he asked.
Referring to deliberations in the recently held Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, Bhagwat said the Sangh has taken serious note of this issue. He stated, “Someone will worry about Hindus only when Hindus are strong enough. As Hindu society and Bharat are intertwined, a glorious nature of Hindu society will bring in glory for Bharat.”
He described the evolving internal resolve of Hindus globally as a positive sign. “This time, the way anguish against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh has been expressed, this is unprecedented. Even local Hindus now say: ‘We won’t flee. We’ll stay and fight for our rights.’ Now, the internal strength of the Hindu society is increasing,” he said.
The RSS chief asserted that the organisation’s reach would continue to grow, and its impact would naturally follow.
“Wherever Hindus are there in the world, we will do everything possible for them following international norms. Sangh exists for the same. Swayamsevaks take oath ‘to work for all-over development of the Hindu Rashtra by protecting Dharma, Sanskriti, and society’,” he noted.
Turning to democracy, he firmly urged respect for the people’s mandate, dismissing unfounded allegations against the electoral process and warning that such divisive tactics erode the very foundations of India’s democracy. He called on political leaders to uphold democratic institutions and govern with responsibility and dignity. (Agencies)
