Hill Council reviews preparations for Dalai Lama’s visit to Ladakh

With a view to the scheduled visit of the Buddhist spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, in July this year, the administration has commenced preparations. Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalson, and Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve, visited Jive-Tsal to review ongoing preparations for the upcoming visit of the Dalai Lama to Ladakh.

Also present during the visit were former MP of Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang, president of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Tsering Dorjey Lakrook, along with the Chief Planning Officer, Leh; Superintending Engineer, PWD Circle, Leh; Executive Engineer, Construction Division, Leh, and others. They reviewed the current progress of works, discussed timelines for completion and emphasised the importance of seamless coordination between departments.

Buddhist spiritual leaders present at the meeting offered key guidance to ensure a smooth and respectful welcome for the Dalai Lama.

As part of the visit, the dignitaries inaugurated the newly constructed boundary wall around the Photang, a project funded by the Hill Council. The team also inspected the newly completed guest rooms at the site, which are intended to accommodate officials during the visit.

“The visit reflects the strong collaborative effort between Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council , the district administration and religious bodies in ensuring a dignified and well-prepared welcome for His Holiness the Dalai Lama,” an official spokesperson of the Hill Council said.
