Edumust inaugurates seventh computer lab

In a significant step towards promoting digital literacy in Jalandhar, Edumust, an NGO working in the field of education, inaugurated its seventh computer laboratory on Friday at Government Primary School, Dhilwan.

The lab, fully maintained by Edumust, is generously supported by the GNA Foundation, marking another milestone in Edumust’s mission to empower students with digital literacy and 21st-century skills.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Rohit Jindal, Assistant Commissioner (General), Jalandhar, who officially opened the laboratory alongside Jasleen Sehra of the GNA Foundation. The event also witnessed the presence of Senior Deputy Mayor Balbir Singh Dhillon and BPEO Roshan Lal. All dignitaries emphasised the growing importance of digital literacy in today’s educational landscape and pledged their continued support.

Representing Edumust’s leadership, board members Kamna Raj Agarwalla and Seema Handa addressed the gathering, highlighting the organisation’s vision and its collaborative approach involving the local education department, government officials, donors, college and school volunteers, and community stakeholders.

They also emphasised the power of collective action, sharing that since Edumust now has CSR approvals, individuals, organisations, and corporate partners can come together to drive meaningful change—and called upon more supporters to join the movement so Edumust can reach and empower even more students.

They also shared that Edumust is actively looking for passionate and talented individuals to join their team in Jalandhar—emphasising the importance of building a strong local team that can take ownership, drive the organisation’s mission forward, and lead impactful change.

The Edumust programme team — Amarjot Singh, Ankita, Avneet, and Vishali — shared insights into the organisation’s work in the region and their dedication to expanding opportunities for students through technology.

The Edumust team also shared insights into their thoughtfully designed curriculum, highlighting how students progressively build digital skills across grades—so that by the time they reach Grade 5, they are proficient in essential computer literacy tools like MS Paint, OpenOffice (Writer, Impress, Calc), Scratch programming, Canva, video and music editing, Microbit programming, basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence, and email management.

Special appreciation was extended to the school staff, led by Davinder Singh (CHT) and the school head at GPS Dhilwan, for their unwavering cooperation. Satnam Singh Dhillon, a key local supporter from the village, was also acknowledged for his contributions.
