Police nab four with 1.192 kg heroin in separate cases

The Punjab Police have arrested four persons in three separate instances and recovered 1.192 kg of heroin from their possession.

The Lopoke police nabbed Gurdeep Singh, alias Kali, of Rajetal border village in Gharinda and confiscated 500 gm of heroin from him. Sub-Inspector Sukhwinderjit said the police got a tip-off that Gurdeep was involved in large-scale trafficking of drugs and that he was going to Chak Ala Singh village along with the defence drain via Bachiwind village. The police also impounded his bike (PB-02-EJ-5172). During a search in the presence of DSP Inderjit Singh, the police recovered the contraband from him.

He was currently in police remand and further probe was on to ascertain the source of the contraband seized from him.

Similarly, the Gharinda police arrested Amritpal Singh of Atalgarh village with 430 gm of heroin. The police said he was arrested by the police following an intelligence-based operation. According to the police, he used to smuggle the heroin from Pakistan via drones.

He was waiting for someone to deliver the consignment when he was held by a police patrol team.

In another incident, the city police arrested two drug peddlers and seized 262 gm heroin from them. They were identified as Sunny Singh, alias Lifafa, of Maqboopura and Deepak Kumar of New Jawahar Nagar locality.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) Dr Sheetal Singh said following information, the Maqboopura police arrested Sunny Singh with 262 gm of the contraband from Vallah area. He was arrested and during a preliminary interrogation, he told that he procured the narcotics from Deepak Kumar who was also nabbed.

The duo was currently on police remand and further investigations were on to identify their backward and forward linkages to bust the entire nexus, said the ACP.

Three separate cases under the NDPS Act were registered against them at respective police stations.
