Asian Hospital, Faridabad launches total lab automation with QuidelOrtho

New Delhi: In a significant advancement for healthcare in the region, Asian Hospital, Faridabad has become the first hospital in the city to introduce Total Lab Automation (TLA) in collaboration with global diagnostics leader QuidelOrtho. This system, powered by the Vitros Automation Solution, represents a major step forward in diagnostic testing, bringing faster and more accurate results to patients.
With the introduction of this technology, Asian Hospital is transforming the way laboratory tests are conducted. Automated processes significantly reduce turnaround times, which means that doctors can access test results quickly, especially in critical or emergency situations. This allows for faster diagnosis and treatment, improving patient outcomes, according to Dr. N K Pandey, Chairman & Managing Director, Asian Hospital.
The new system uses dry chemistry technology, eliminating the need for lab-grade water. This not only prevents water-related contamination but also ensures consistently reliable and precise results. It also makes the system more sustainable and eco-friendly, saving millions of litres of water each year and consuming less electricity, according to Dr Pandey.
The introduction of TLA is not only a technical advancement but also a patient-centric innovation that ensures faster, more reliable test results while contributing to environmental sustainability. Our focus on timely reports and efficiency will continue to improve patient care at all levels, said Dr Prashant Pandey, Medical Director, Asian Hospital, the brain behind the concept of saving water and taking this monumental step.
The innovation has been recognised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for its contribution to sustainable healthcare practices.
The patient experience is also greatly enhanced. Only a minimal amount of blood is needed for most tests, reducing discomfort—especially for children, elderly patients, and those in intensive care, according to Dr. Ramesh Chandna, Chairman, Safety, Quality, Laboratory Services & Blood Bank
The system’s advanced microfluidic technology ensures that the results are accurate the first time, minimising the need for repeat tests. Each sample is tracked throughout the testing process, ensuring full traceability and high standards of safety, Dr. Chandna said.
By adopting this cutting-edge diagnostic technology, Asian Hospital is setting a new benchmark in quality care and positioning Faridabad alongside cities offering world-class healthcare services. This move underscores the hospital’s commitment to combining medical excellence with patient-centric and environmentally responsible practices, said Dr Pandey.
