Ever since actor Paresh Rawal made the big decision to exit one of the most popular franchises, the third instalment of Hera Pheri, tensions have been running high between lead actors Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Akshay, who is also producing the third part after acquiring rights from Firoz Nadiadwala, has reportedly been facing significant financial losses. He and his legal team allegedly sent a legal notice to Rawal, demanding damages worth Rs 25 crore. In response, Paresh Rawal appointed his legal team.

On Sunday morning, the iconic ‘Babu Bhaiya’ of Hera Pheri tweeted that his legal team has responded to Akshay Kumar. “My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest,” he wrote.

Later in the day, Paresh Rawal’s lawyers issued a detailed statement to IANS addressing the circumstances of his exit from the much-awaited Hera Pheri 3.

Paresh Rawal’s lawyer gives statement

They told the news agency, “Admittedly, they did not deliver the story, screenplay and also a draft of a long form agreement which was fundamental to the engagement of our client. In the absence of these and also since Mr. Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, issued notice to our client and raised issues on the making of the film, our client chose to exit and returned the money with interest by terminating the Term sheet.”

The lawyers’ statement further clarified the veteran actor’s stance and addressed his contractual obligations. Paresh Rawal returned the signing amount of Rs 11 lakh, along with interest, to Akshay Kumar’s production house, said the team.

On Akshay Kumar’s financial loss claim

Akshay’s legal team claimed Rawal’s exit caused financial losses tied to cast, crew, logistics. Rawal’s legal team also addressed the allegations of financial losses by saying there was no script ready with agreement. They said, “First they accepted the monies but later unfortunately sent an untenable notice to our client when knowingly nothing was and is ready including no story and cloud over the title: so there can never be any loss. I hope they would accept this reality and move on from our client (sic).”
