Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar recalls sleeping between his father and stepmother, shares he used to kick his ‘ mummy’ Madhubala in sleep

In the glamorous world of Bollywood, where everything seems picture-perfect from the outside, there is a lot that happens behind the curtains than what meets the eye. While tales of fame and stardom are usually what we see on the forefront, personal struggles, complicated interpersonal relationships are rarely spoken about. One such tale belongs to a legendary singer who had achieved massive success in terms of his profession, but his personal life was full of complications, four marriages, shifting family dynamics, and complex relationships.

The person we are talking about is none other than Kishore Kumar. Widely known as the biggest playback singer, the legendary star was an actor, producer, and screenwriter.  Although he made his debut as an actor but it was his iconic singing that rose him to fame. He has given his voice to many A-list iconic stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Deva Anand, and more. Some of his cult classic that resonates with the audience even today are “Zindagi ek safar”, “Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass”, “Mere Sapno Ki Rani”, and many more.

However, while his professional life was full of success, his personal life was rather complicated. He had four marriages.  Ruma Guha Thakurta, legendary actress Madhubala, Yogeeta Bali, and then finally Leena Chandvarkar. Kishore Kumar has been in the news many times for his complicated love life, especially with Madhubala, as that was a blend of love and tragedy.

However, recently, his son, Amit Kumar, opened up about the lesser-known part of his life. He shared about his childhood and how, even after the complex dynamics of his father and mother, Ruma Guha Thakurta, he never felt any sort of resentment towards his father for remarrying. Expressing his gratitude, he shared, “I got love from both parents. I loved both, and they saw to it,

He made another surprising revelation about how his mother, Ruma (Kishore Kumar’s first wife) and Leena (Kishore Kumar’s fourth wife) lived together under the same roof for over a decade.  Instead of having any friction, they both shared a harmonious bond over meal, laughter and memories. “They were all so broad-minded,” Amit said, speaking about the acceptance in the family “I really love my parents, I miss them. They taught me these things.”

Amit also spoke about having an unbiased and affectionate relationship with his father’s second wife, Madhubala. “I used to call her ‘mummy’ only,” he recalled. He shared a memory about how as a kid he had a habit of kicking in his sleep, prompting Madhubala to sleep between him and Kishore. She once jokingly told Kishore, “Aapka ladka bahut laat maarta hai (Your son kicks a lot).”

This dynamic of family despite the complexes seems quite rare but shows how the entire family inherited acceptance and were quite broad minded.
