Qatar reaffirms support to India in fight against terrorism

India has received a strong show of support from Qatar. According to the Indian Embassy, Minister Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s solidarity with India and emphasized the importance of a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism to maintain peace and prosperity in the region.

The Indian multi-party delegation, led by MP Supriya Sule, included prominent leaders such as Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, V. Muraleedharan, Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, Lavu Krishna Devarayalu of the Telugu Desam Party, Vikramjit Singh Sahney from the Aam Aadmi Party, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

During their visit, the delegation also held meaningful talks with Qatar’s Shura Council (parliament). They clearly conveyed India’s stance on protecting its sovereignty and its right to defend itself from any form of cross-border terrorism.

After the meeting, Supriya Sule told the media that Qatar’s parliament members fully supported India’s position and agreed on the need to eradicate terrorism from its roots. She also said Qatar shares India’s zero-tolerance approach not only towards terrorism but also corruption.

Congress MP Manish Tewari, part of the delegation, shared that the discussion with Sheikha Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Vice-President of the Shura Council, and her colleagues was both productive and insightful. He spoke about India’s rich and ancient culture spanning over 5,000 years, which embraces diversity in religion and culture.

The delegation also made it clear that India will not tolerate Pakistan’s use of terrorism as a tool of state policy or its low-cost proxy war tactics. India reserves the right to take appropriate measures to defend its sovereignty and civilizational values.
