2.5 kg heroin, Rs 42L drug money seized

The Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the police here arrested three operatives of Canada-based drug smuggler Sonu and seized 2.5 kg heroin and Rs 42 lakh drug money from their possession.

Those arrested were indentified as Ajaypal Singh of Sarai Amanat Khan in Tarn Taran, Hardeep Singh of Bhagatanwala in Amritsar and Milap Singh of Alipur in Tarn Taran.

Officials also confiscated a motorcycle and a car from them. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the CI wing had inputs about Canada-based Sonu operating a drug racket with the help of his Punjab-based associates.

Ajaypal Singh and Hardeep Singh had recently retrieved a consignment of narcotics.
