Abhishek Banerjee-led crime thriller 'Stolen' to premiere on Prime Video on this date

After its massive success at the 80th Venice Film Festival in 2023, Stolen is finally making its way to Indian audiences. With budding director Karan Tejpal at the helm, the Abhishek Banerjee-led crime thriller will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on June 4th.

The movie follows two brothers, Gautam (Abhishek Banerjee) and Ram (Shubham Vardhan), who witness the kidnapping of a child at a railway station. The brothers eventually decide to help the child’s mother, leading them into a deadly chase as the characters tackle the harsh realities that test their trust and resilience.

Besides Banerjee, the movie features actors Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, Sahidur Rahaman and Shubham. Backed by executive producers Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane and bankrolled by Gaurav Dhingra, the movie is a Jungle Book Studio Production. 

Apart from its success at the Venice Film Festival, the movie received positive appraisals from various international platforms. The film was recognised at Japan’s Skip City International D-Cinema Festival in 2024 with the awards ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Director’. Along with a Special mention at the Zurich Film Festival in 2024, it also bagged three Tiantan awards at the Beijing International Film Festival the same year. In India, the film premiered at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and was later showcased at the 28th International Film Festival of Kerala.

Sharing insights into the narrative of the movie, Kiran Rao said, “Stolen is a rare film that combines thrilling narrative tension with a deeply humane core. It’s that rare kind of cinema that captivates while drawing the audience deeper with every frame. It's heartening to bring this powerful film to Prime Video, I'm truly honoured to support this compelling film."

Ever since its inception, the movie has created a huge buzz nationally and internationally. The recent announcement of its release has only re-confirmed this excitement among the audience.
