Defaulters face power disconnection
The authorities at the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board’s (HPSEB) Chamba Sub-Division-II have issued orders to disconnect the power supply of 353 defaulter consumers under the Chamba Sub-Division 2 for non-payment of their bills.
The defaulter consumers, domestic and commercial, have collectively defaulted on payments amounting to Rs 6,92,799, and have failed to clear their dues despite repeated reminders.
HPSEB Subdivisional Officer (SDO) Ajay Kumar said these consumers had not paid bills in the past 40 days. The department has initiated this action after repeated reminders and notices failed to yield result.
Consequently, temporary disconnection of electricity will be implemented. Consumers will be required to pay their outstanding bill amount along with an additional fee of Rs 250 to have their connection restored.
The SDO further stated that if payment was not made even after temporary disconnection, the board would proceed to permanently disconnect the power supply after a stipulated period. Once a connection is permanently disconnected, consumers will have to settle all outstanding dues and apply online for a new electricity connection.
In a similar move, 181 consumers under Chamba Sub-Division 1 will also face temporary disconnection due to unpaid electricity bills amounting to Rs 37,25,452.
SDO of Sub-Division-I Teju Ram appealed to all consumers to pay their electricity bills on time to avoid disconnection and associated inconveniences.
The power board has emphasised timely payment to ensure uninterrupted power supply and has urged all consumers to take immediate action to avoid penalties and service interruptions.
Official stressed that all consumers must ensure timely payment of their electricity bills to avoid such inconvenience in the future.
