PM Modi Leads Nation In Paying Homage To NTR On His Birth Anniversary
On the birth anniversary of the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, affectionately known as NTR, heartfelt tributes poured in from across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in remembering the towering figure in Indian cinema and politics, while members of the Nandamuri family and a host of admirers paid their respects at his memorial.
PM Pays Tribute
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi honored NTR’s legacy, stating, “I pay homage to NTR Garu on his birth anniversary. He is widely admired for his efforts to serve society and empower the poor and downtrodden. His cinematic works also continue to enthral audiences. We are all deeply inspired by him. The NDA Government in Andhra Pradesh, led by my friend Chandrababu Naidu Garu is working to fulfil NTR’s vision.”
NTR's Grandsons Visit Memorial
Joining the tributes were NTR’s grandsons, popular actors Jr NTR and Kalyan Ram, who visited the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad to offer floral respects. The memorial, decorated specially for the occasion, saw a significant turnout of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, fans, and well-wishers reflecting on NTR’s remarkable journey.
NTR, a stalwart in both the film industry and public life, served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh across four terms, totalling seven years. Known for his charismatic screen presence and commanding political persona, he acted in over 300 films and earned the title "Viswa Vikhyatha Nata Sarvabhouma"—Emperor of Acting of International Fame.
Adding to the day’s significance, Andhra Pradesh government has declared that NTR Jayanti will henceforth be observed as a state festival every year on May 28.
