Why China is going behind the asteroids with its Tianwen-2 Mission
China's Tianwen-2 mission, launched on May 28, 2025, aims to collect samples from the quasi-satellite asteroid 469219 Kamo‘oalewa, potentially a fragment of the Moon. Following this, the spacecraft will journey to comet 311P/PANSTARRS around 2035. This ambitious mission seeks to understand planetary origins, develop new technologies, and enhance China's space exploration capabilities.
