ICAI J&K Branch hosts awareness program on Income Tax Bill 2025

JAMMU, May 28: The J&K Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), under the aegis of the Direct Tax Committee, ICAI, organized today an awareness program on the recently proposed Income Tax Bill 2025 at ICAI Bhawan Jammu.
The program, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from professionals, industry leaders and representatives from various trade associations, was graced by Kachoo Mehboob Ali Khan, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), as the chief guest. Special guests included G Velladurai, Joint Director & Head, MSME Jammu, Nooh Siddiqui, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax and Dr Ritu Singh, women leader and Trustee, Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation.
Sourav Pargal, Chairman of the J&K Branch of ICAI, while delivering the welcome address, highlighted the significance of the proposed bill in simplifying the direct tax regime and promoting ease of doing business.
Ayush Sawhney, Executive Member of the Branch, efficiently moderated the proceedings of the session while Gourav Choudhary, provided a comprehensive overview of the Income Tax Bill 2025, elucidating its key provisions, structural reforms and its comparative analysis with the existing Income Tax Act.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Amit Gupta, vice chairman of the Branch, acknowledging the valuable insights shared by the speakers and the active participation of the attendees.
The outreach program witnessed active participation from various trade and industry associations including FICCI FLO Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh Chapter, Kanak Mandi Traders Association, Nanak Nagar Shopkeepers Association, Bar Council of J&K High Court and several others.
Jatin Malhotra (secretary), Sanchit Aggarwal (treasurer) and Ayush Mahajan (executive member) along with many other chartered accountants were also present in the program.
