Viral Video Shows Cops Drinking Booze, Playing Cards With Man Accused Of Attempt To Murder At Ujjain Government Hospital
Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A viral video shows five cops drinking alcohol and playing cards with a man accused of attempted murder at a government hospital in Ujjain. As the purported video went viral, all five cops seen in the clip were suspended.
Apart from the suspension orders, SP Pradeep Sharma also ordered an inquiry into the incident.
The accused in the video, Ajay Sindal of the Central Kotwali police station area, had allegedly made a murderous attack on his uncle, Anil Sindal, on September 1 last year. The police had registered a case under Sections 304(2) (snatching), 127(1) (wrongful confinement), 115 (2) (causes hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 296 (obscene acts), and 3(5) (joint criminal liability) of the BNS and sent Ajay to the Central Bhairavgarh Jail.
Since then, this was the second time that Ajay had allegedly come out of jail on the pretext of treatment, and got admitted to Charak Hospital.
Shubham Sindal, son of complainant Anil Sindal, allegedly shot the said video from outside the ward where Ajay is drinking alcohol and playing cards with policemen. All the policemen had allegedly taken off their uniforms, which were hanging in a corner.
Shubham claimed that Ajay had no serious ailment, but from the hospital, was pressuring his family for a compromise through goons.
When the video reached SP Sharma, he suspended guard Altaf Hussain, and constables Dharmendra Marmat, Sunil Bithore, Lakhan Ahirwar, and Sunil Parmar. “The video is being investigated. If proven guilty, action will be taken up to dismissal,” he added.
