Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena Cracks Down On Fake Fertilizer Units In Ajmer

A number of factories making adulterated fertilizer have been sealed in Rajasthan following the raids conducted by the Agricultural Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena in the last couple of days.

Meena reached Kishangarh in Ajmer for the second consecutive day on Friday to inspect the fertilizer factories in Dindwara, Bandarsindri and Chausla village with a team of officials.

During the inspection, the employees of a fertilizer factory threw the fertilizer outside and fled away.

Thousands of empty bags of branded names, fake labels and machinery were found in these factories running in fields and warehouses. Fertilizer was being packed in the name of brands like IFFCO, IPL.

Earlier on Thursday, the minister made sudden inspection of 12 factories in this area and five of them were sealed by the department.

Kirodi Meena said that marble raw material, gravel and soil were being put in the machine to make fertilizer. The black marble powder was being used to make

DAP, white for SSP, and brown for potassium (potash). He said that about three dozen such plants are running in this area.

"Such big plants have been set up here for years, but surprisingly no action has been taken until now. This cheating with farmers is going on for years, but we'll take strict action against such culprits,' said Meena.

The officials said that about 34 factories in Kishangarh have been identified for investigation as the department has the input that these factories are making fake fertilizer and supplying it to various districts of Rajasthan as well as in Northern India including Haryana, Punjab, and Bihar.

Notably, Meena remained inactive for almost a year as he submitted his resignation after party's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in eastern Rajasthan, but his resignation was not accepted and after the directions of the party high command, he started functioning as minister about a month ago.
