Mock drill in Hoshiarpur today

As per the instructions of the Government of India and the Government of Punjab, the district administration will organise a mock drill across the district on May 31 from 8 pm to 8.15 pm. While chairing a meeting held in this regard today, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain informed that the mock drill is a routine exercise aimed at checking and strengthening civil defense preparedness. The Deputy Commissioner stated that sirens will be sounded across the district at 7.58 pm to signal the start of the mock drill. Following this, there will be a complete blackout from 8pm to 8.15 pm, during which the electricity across the city will be switched off. In adherence to guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, a mock blackout drill will be conducted in Kapurthala and Phagwara cities on the night of May 31, as part of preparedness measures to handle emergency situations. According to Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, the drill will take place from 9.30 pm to 10 pm, during which all lights in homes, shops, glow signboards and CCTV cameras are to be switched off. The blackout will be preceded by a siren, signalling the start of the exercise. The administration has clarified that this is purely a mock exercise, and residents are advised not to panic. People driving or travelling during that time are instructed to pull over to the left side of the road and switch off their vehicle lights.
