Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy skies with light rains today, May 31. As the month ends, May has had unpredictable weather this year, breaking the record of rain in May in past 107 years. The unpredictable rains were caused due to Cyclone Shakti according to reports.

On May 31, the temperatures to stay between the minimum and maximum temperatures of 27 and 32 degrees Celsius today. As of 9 AM, temperature is at 29°C with Precipitation at 25%, Humidity 76% and Wind 23 km/h giving a cloudy, windy and slightly warm day ahead.

Weather Forecast for Next Week

The first week of June looks full of rain and cloudy skies, with temperatures ranging between 26 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius maximum. The rains will range from light to moderate next week.

As per the Air Quality Index (AQI) report from the Sameer App by the Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), today's AQI readings are at 81, categorized as 'Satisfactory' levels. A steep drop was observed in the AQI Levels.

Why Is It Raining In May?

The Mumbai Regional Meteorological Center warned of cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea, leading to rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds until May 24. IMD's Shubhangi Bhute noted increased rainfall in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, with possible heavy rain and gusts of 30-40 kmph or more in some areas over the coming days.
