11-Year-Old Girl Dies of Snakebite After Family Consults Tantrik Before Doctor

Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): A 11-year-old girl died of a snakebite after her family took her to a tantrik instead of a hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar.

Visiting a tantrik delayed the girl's treatment, and she was declared dead on arrival by the doctors on Saturday.

The incident took place in village Hinauti of Sagar district under Rahli police station jurisdiction.

Here, at around 1 o'clock on Friday night, Vaishali Ahirwar approached an earthen pot at her home to drink water.

When she reached near the pot, a hidden snake bit her making her unconscious, and to fall on the ground.

However, the family did not take her to the hospital first. Instead, they took her to a tantrik in Achalpur village which is 15 km away from home.

The tantrik assured them of treating her and performed exorcism. After this, he asked the family to take the girl to the hospital.

Vaishali was brought to Rahli hospital at 4 am on Saturday. The doctors started treatment but she died within a short time. Even after this, the family was not ready to believe that the girl was dead.

After the death of the girl, the family took her body to another tantrik in Badipura village. There the tantrik also said that the girl had died. After the villagers' persuasion, the family brought the body back to the hospital.

Rahli police reached the hospital and got the post-mortem done after preparing the Panchnama of the body. The body has been handed over to the family. The case has been registered and investigation has been started on the matter.

The deceased's father Santosh Ahirwar said that her daughter was bitten by a snake. The villagers manipulated and convinced that she will get well with exorcism.

However, he lost his daughter due to delayed treatment.
