This 'Game of Thrones' actor is onboard the Gaza ship along with Greta Thunberg

A humanitarian aid ship which will set sail from Italy's Sicily on Sunday, has a prominent actor onboard along with climate activist Greta Thunberg. The journey is being organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition to deliver vital supplies to the Palestinian people in Gaza and protest Israel’s months-long blockade there.

Besides Thunberg, actor Liam Cunningham will also sail to Gaza in the ship 'Madleen'. The Irish actor who played Davos Seaworth in the hit HBO series is a vocal critic of Israel. Before he embarked on the journey, Cunningham told reporters that he hoped the flotilla would get through and not be attacked, like the last time. "If anything happens to the boat, it's not a confrontation – it's a deliberate attack," he said.

Cunningham was referring to the Freedom Flotilla ship 'The Conscience'  which was damaged in a drone strike off the coast of Malta on May 2. The attack, suspected to be from Israel, off the coast of Malta, forced the ship to call off its journey. Malta’s government said the attack left the ship ablaze. The vessel was 68-foot-long and was carrying 16 people – 12 crew members and four civilian passengers.

Besides Cunningham, European Union lawmaker Rima Hassan will also be onboard the vessel. Hassan has been barred from entering Israel due to her controversial statement.

The journey was criticised by the many pro-Israeli sources and supported by many too. United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese wished the flotilla well on their journey.

"Stay safe, my friends. I am painfully aware of the risks you are taking on behalf of all of us—of Humanity. Diplomats & politicians around the world: The Flotilla Giants are taking the heavy lift. PLEASE make sure they are protected, will you? This is the least you can do."
