WhatsApp Shut down: Many WhatsApp users have got a big shock from June 1. Actually, WhatsApp will not work on some Android and iOS devices from June 1. Know if your smartphone is in the list?

WhatsApp Shut down: From June 1, 2025, many things are being implemented across the country, which is having a huge impact on the life of the common man. Similarly, from January 1, many Android and iOS users are getting a shock. Actually, WhatsApp will not work in many Android and iOS smartphones from June 1. Actually this is part of the regular update of Meta, which is the parent company of WhatsApp. Under this, the minimum technical requirements are being increased to use the app. Let us tell you that earlier this change was going to be implemented from May 1, 2025.

WhatsApp will stop working in these iPhone, Android smartphones

From June 1, 2025, iPhones that have iOS 15 or older operating system will not support WhatsApp. Similarly, WhatsApp service will also be discontinued on Android phones running on Android 5.0 or older versions. iPhones include iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE (1st generation). Android includes many older models like Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G2, Huawei Ascend P6, Moto G (1st generation), Motorola Razr HD, and Moto E 2014.

What should WhatsApp users do, chat backup is important

WhatsApp users should first check what is the operating system of your phone. If your iPhone can be updated to iOS 15.1 or newer version and Android phone to Android 5.1 or newer version, in this case WhatsApp runs on the smartphone. On the other hand, for those users whose WhatsApp support is stopped on their smartphone, first take a backup of the chat history on Google account immediately. To take backup, go to WhatsApp settings, tap on chats and then select chat backup and follow the instructions given on the screen.

This is why Meta took this decision

The main reason behind this move by WhatsApp is the security of the users. Devices with older operating systems stop receiving regular security updates from Google or Apple. Without this, the device becomes more vulnerable to online threats like hacking, malware and data theft. WhatsApp wants to ensure that its users use secure hardware and new operating systems. This will keep private information and conversations safe.
