Traffic Improvements Planned In Indore; 16 Black Spots Identified, Repairs & Lighting Ordered

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A total of sixteen accident-prone black spots have been identified across the city, with most located along the Ring Road and Bypass.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the MP Road Development Corporation (MPRDC) have been directed to take immediate action by repairing damaged stretches and improving lighting at these locations.

Additionally, key left turns in the city centre will be widened to ensure smoother traffic movement and reduce congestion.

Officials also announced stricter enforcement against unauthorised vehicle modifications. The registration of vehicles that have been illegally modified for selling goods will be cancelled as part of efforts to enhance road safety and maintain order on city streets.

Collector Asheesh Singh informed about these decisions in the meeting of the Road Safety Committee held here on Monday. IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, additional police commissioner Manoj Shrivastava, Traffic DCP Arvind Tiwari, additional collector Rinkesh Vaish and Roshan Rai along with officials of other related departments were present in the meeting.

It was said in the meeting that effective action is being taken continuously to improve traffic in the city. Collector Singh directed that all necessary steps be taken with speed to improve the traffic situation in the city.  He said that a special campaign for checking the fitness of passenger buses will also be undertaken. This campaign will be jointly conducted by the Traffic and Transport Department.

 It was told that the left turn of the city's major squares will be widened soon. In this regard, the tender process has been done by IMC and the work will start soon. The left turns of Industries House T-point, Geeta Bhawan Square, GPO Square and Chhawani Square will be widened.

Collector Singh directed that all road and bridge related construction agencies should ensure that the drivers do not face any kind of problem during construction. The officials were instructed to ensure that diversions are always properly maintained and indicators are installed for all diversions.
