Two arrested for assaulting policeman in Mahendragarh
The Nizampur police have arrested two persons on charge of assaulting a policeman and snatching a tractor-trailer transporting illegally mined gravel. The accused have been identified as Hansraj and Sunil, both residents of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan. The police also impounded the tractor-trailer.
The incident occurred on June 12 when a police team was conducting an operation against illegal mining in the Dancholi area. During patrolling, the police team spotted a tractor-trailer carrying illegally mined gravel heading from Dancholi towards the Koriyawas road. When the police team signalled the driver to stop tractor-trailer, he ignored the instruction and tried to flee from the spot.
After intercepting the tractor-trailer, the police personnel inquired about the driver’s identity. He identified himself as Hansraj of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan and failed to produce any documents related to the tractor-trailer or gravel loaded on his vehicle.
A policeman began driving the tractor-trailer towards the Nizampur police station when, suddenly, five youths on two motorcycles intercepted the vehicle. They forcibly boarded the tractor-trailer, physically assaulted the policeman and pushed him off the moving vehicle. The policeman fell to the ground, but was not injured. The assailants then fled from the spot towards Rajasthan with the tractor-trailer.Following the incident, the Nizampur police registered a case and launched an investigation. Two of the accused were arrested, and the tractor-trailer impounded by the police. — TNS
