Rain Likely Across J&K In Coming Days; Day & Night Temp Remain Above Normal

Srinagar, June 16: The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast isolated to scattered rain across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days.
According to the MeT, brief spells of rain and thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are likely at isolated to scattered locations across the Union Territory until June 20.
A more active weather system is expected between June 21 and 23, with generally cloudy skies and intermittent rain and thundershowers likely in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the past 24 hours, the Jammu region witnessed fairly widespread light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds. Jammu city recorded 46.0 mm of rainfall during this period.
Meanwhile, day temperatures have continued to hover above normal across the Union Territory. Most parts of the Kashmir Valley recorded temperatures 2–3°C above average, while the Jammu region saw a deviation of 1–3°C above the seasonal norm.
Night temperatures also remained unusually high, with most areas in Kashmir recording minimum temperatures 1–6°C above average. Similarly, many parts of Jammu reported minimums 1–5°C above normal.
The lowest minimum temperatures were recorded in Gulmarg at 11.6°C in Kashmir and Banihal at 15.6°C in Jammu.
