Ajay Devgn drops poster for ‘Son of Sardaar 2’; film to release in July

Thirteen years after the release of the comedy flick Son of Sardaar, leading man Ajay Devgn has unveiled the poster for the sequel as well as when fans can expect to see the film on the big screen. The actor took to social media to drop the poster for Son of Sardaar 2, which sees Devgn return as Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa.
The poster features Jassi in a yellow turban and a leather jacket, standing atop two military tanks. Captioned “The Return of the Sardaar,” it also announces the release date—July 25.
Fans of the original film have flooded the comment section, with many eagerly awaiting the release of a teaser or trailer.
Son of Sardaar, released in 2012, was an Ashwni Dhir directorial which chronicled a family drama of two rival families, one seeking revenge against the other for the murder of their father. Aside from Devgn, the comedy-drama also featured Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla, Arjan Bajwa, and the late Mukul Dev. Salman Khan also made a cameo appearance.

The sequel will be helmed by Vijay Kumar Arora. The director previously directed the award-winning sports drama Harjeeta (2018) as well as the 2019 family drama Guddiyan Patole. Son of Sardaar 2 will mark his first Hindi feature directorial.
Reportedly a spiritual sequel to the first film rather than a direct continuation, Son of Sardaar 2 features returning cast members including Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Mishra, and Mukul Dev in a posthumous appearance. Mrunal Thakur plays the female lead in the film.
Son of Sardaar 2 coincides with the release of Marvel’s Fantastic Four: The First Steps and Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Param Sundari.
