'BJP govt's attempt to conceal Keezhadi excavation findings shows its hatred for Tamils', slams Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre on Thursday and charged the attempts by the Union government to conceal  Keezhadi excavation findings show its hatred for the Tamil people.

In a letter to party cadres, Stalin charged the BJP is trying to hide Keezhadi findings as it does not suit its narrative. "While the BJP promotes the imaginary Sarasvati Civilization without any scientific backing, it refuses to accept the Keezhadi findings, which have been scientifically validated, due to its deep-seated hatred for the Tamil race. This hatred is ingrained in the party's policies," the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader charged.

Stalin said the excavations have clearly established that the Vaigai River civilization of the Tamils dates back approximately 2,500 to 3,000 years. "This is not mere speculation but a conclusion drawn from classifying the artefacts found at Keezhadi and subjecting them to scientific tests at premier laboratories in Pune, Bengaluru, Florida (USA), and Italy, including Royal Testing, Chemical Testing, and Carbon Dating," he said. Stalin also slammed the Centre for transferring archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishna, who led the excavation, to Assam.

Ramakrishna had submitted the initial report on the Keezhadi excavations to the Archaeological Survey of India in 2016 and he resumed work after a legal battle. Amarnath Ramakrishna submitted a final 982-page report in 2023. "Despite these extensive scientific studies, the Union BJP government has delayed the release of the Keezhadi excavation findings and, two years after the final report was submitted, returned it, demanding additional evidence. This is a blatant attack on Tamil culture by the BJP government," Stalin charged.

Stalin also lashed out at Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami for being silent on BJP's actions against Tamils. The Palaniswami-led AIADMK is an ally of the BJP. "BJP members in Tamil Nadu have sold their racial and linguistic identity to their leadership for power, betraying the Tamils," he charged.
