Donald Trump hints at possibility of ‘regime change’ in Iran after US strikes

Hours after the United States struck three nuclear sites in Iran, President Donald Trump on Sunday hinted at the possibility of a regime change in Tehran.
“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA [Make Iran Great Again]!!!” Trump wrote on his social media platform.
The US president’s statement contradicted that of US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, who earlier said that the strikes were not aimed at bringing out a “regime change” in Iran.
In the early hours of Sunday, the US joined Israel’s war against Iran. Trump said that the country carried out a “very successful attack” on the nuclear sites of Fordo, Natanz and Esfahan in Iran. “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, [Fordo],” Trump said.
