'Baahubali and 'RRR' director SS Rajamouli makes an appearance in Hideo Kojima's video game. But he is not the only big-name cameo

Followers of Japanese video game developer Hideo Kojima know how much of a hardcore cinephile he is. And given the stunningly cinematic treatment of his games and his connections in the film industry, it's only natural that he would find a way to incorporate real-life celebrities into his games. It has been revealed that SS Rajamouli, director of Baahubali and RRR, has a photorealistic cameo in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to his popular video game which boasts stunningly lifelike images. The same can be said of the sequel

Interestingly, some fans predicted that Death Stranding 2 would feature Rajamouli when he met Kojima in 2022 during a promotional tour for RRR. Kojima had also shared stills of Rajamouli at Kojima's studio being scanned for motion capture and photorealistic processing. In the game, which hits the stands on June 26, Rajamouli plays a character named 'The Adventurer' and his son SS Karthikeya, who interacts with him at a certain juncture. The news of Rajamouli's appearance broke out after some fans got early access to the game.

However, Rajamouli is not the only high-profile filmmaker to appear in the game. Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller also makes an appearance, in addition to Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn and French actress Lea Seydoux. In the first game, popular television host and comedian Conan O'Brien, as well as filmmaker Edgar Wright, made appearances through their CGI avatars.

Death Stranding follows characters in a dystopian landscape, where actor Norman Reedus' character Sam Porter Bridges, a courier, is tasked with delivering supplies to remote colonies and establishing communication between them through wireless technology. During the missions, the protagonist encounters several obstacles, some of which take the form of strange and mysterious creatures and desolate locales.
